The elegant front cover of this issue of ‘The Precious Queen’ depicts one of the seven precious emblems of royalty that are considered to be the seven possessions of a universal monarch (Skt . cakravartin) and one of the seven images that will be inserted into the marble base that will go into the Stupa of Enlightenment at Merigar West below the body of Chögyal Namkhai Norbu. You can read about this project on page 30.
After entering the issue there is Part II of day one of Chögyal Namkhai Norbu’s Ati Yoga Teaching at Dzamling Gar, December 28, 2017. Part I was published in the last issue of The Mirror, no. 143. This will be an ongoing teaching transcription until this teaching is completed.
Then moving on there is a report from the Atiyoga Foundation on an important collaborative event between the Foundation and BIAS, International Biennial of Contemporary Sacred Art of Religions and Beliefs of Humanity in Venice, Italy, an update from the Shang Shung Institute School of Tibetan Medicine and the new class of 2023, reports on the Itinerant Cultural Meetings at Merigar and in Arcidosso, the Festival of Mind: The Nature of Emotions at Lekdanling, London, and Friends of ASIA.
Then there is the main feature of this issue which is the focus on the Annual General Meeting at Dzamling Gar and the reports given there by the various branches of the International Dzogchen Community, including opening talks by Steven Landsberg, Costantino Albini and Mark Farrington. We hope this information will be useful and enlightening for our readers.
On pages 24 – 27 there are pages dedicated to the Dzamling Gar gardens in an article by our consummate gardener, Alix de Fermor, accompanied by beautiful and inspiring photos.
After strolling through the gardens, there are pages full of Community News and program announcements, an article about the dramatic undertaking of the renewal of the Temple of Liberation at Merigar West, a special feature with advice about Khaita from Adriana Dal Borgo, an engaging article by Maciek Sikora about the Khaita performance at the British Museum; all of this followed by a book review by Alex Studholme reviewing Reincarnation in Tibetan Buddhism, the feature of an Artist in the Dzogchen Community, dancer Sachiko Fullita and the final article, How I Met Chögyal Namkhai Norbu by Will Shea.
