Dear Vajra Family,

In May 2017, we would like to welcome up to three new Gakyil members to our team here at Dzamling Gar. This is a great opportunity to get involved with the development of the Global Gar and the swift realisation of Rinpoche’s vision for the future.

Applicants will preferably have previous Gakyil experience and the possibility to locate themselves in Tenerife for much of the year.

ROLE DESCRIPTIONS AND GENERAL REQUIREMENTS FOR APPLICANTS:

Dzamling Gar Blue Gakyil Role Description

The role of Blue Gakyil at Dzamling Gar includes but is not limited to the following:

  • All events, courses and retreat planning, scheduling, organisation and promotion
  • Online communications management including email, website, social media
  • Printed communications management (design skills and an ability to use Adobe Indesign and Photoshop or similar is an advantage, or the ability to direct and manage design professionals)
  • Media relations and press release co-ordination
  • Strategic planning and management of all aspects of the Gar in collaboration with the rest of the Gakyil / Gekod / PR / Meriling – construction team as a whole
  • Support other Gakyil members in diverse ways according to circumstances. The Gakyil is ONE spinning joyful wheel – and therefore we support other Gakyil members in diverse ways according to circumstances.

Duration of commitment : 3 years

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL APPLICANTS

 

Dzamling Gar Red Gakyil Role Description

The role of Red Gakyil at Dzamling Gar includes but is not limited to the following:

  • Maintenance and usage of the grounds and facilities of Dzamling Gar
  • Setting the space according to different events and activities inside and outside the Gar
  • Execution and coordination of small construction works in the Gar area
  • Maintenance and usage management of the cars of the Gar
  • Karmayoga and work-exchange program management, together with Gekod
  • Storage, maintenance and registration of all materials and equipments owned by the Gar
  • Shopping and purchase of materials, food and equipment
  • Maintenance of houses and utilities in the area of the Gar
  • Flat rentals booking and hosting service for instructors and collaborator guests of the Gar
  • Coordination with the Cafeteria management team
  • Coordination with Gardening team
  • Coordination of the security plan in the Gar
  • Communication and collaboration with Meriling (construction project) manager regarding works to be done at the Gar
  • Notify the local authorities about retreats and events at the Gar
  • Strategic management of all aspects of the Gar in collaboration with the Gakyil / Gekod / Meriling construction team as a whole. The Gakyil is ONE spinning joyful wheel – and therefore we support other Gakyil members in diverse ways according to circumstances.

Dzamling Gar Yellow Gakyil Role Description

The role of Yellow Gakyil at Dzamling Gar includes, but is not limited to the following:

  • Management of all financial and legal aspects of the Gar including book keeping, accounting, funds management and the preparation of legal documents in collaboration with our lawyers
  • Preparation of accounts and reports for submission to the authorities in collaboration with our accountant
  • Management of the relationship with Meriling S.L., the construction aspect of the Gar in collaboration with the Red Gakyil
  • Management of the relationship with the Money Laundry Prevention Committee
  • Overseeing retreat registrations and payments
  • Management and reporting of all income from retreats and courses
  • Fundraising campaign strategy, planning and implementation
  • Donor management
  • Payroll management for employees
  • Ensuring transparency
  • Strategic management of all aspects of the Gar in collaboration with the Gakyil / Gekod / Meriling construction team as a whole. The Gakyil is ONE spinning joyful wheel – and therefore we support other Gakyil members in diverse ways according to circumstances.

Personal requirements

  • You will be experienced in office work and management
  • Capacity to work with money with precision and accuracy

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL APPLICANTS

General Requirements for all Applicants

All applicants will possess the following key qualities:

Personal orientation towards benefiting the Dzogchen Community and helping to realise the vision of the Master in all ways;

Knowledge of the Base Level of Santi Maha Sangha;

Member of Dzogchen Community for at least 5 years;

Previous Gakyil experience – advantage;

EU citizenship or valid EU VISA permit;

Be over 18 years of age;

Ability to stay close to the Gar for preparation phase and for the full duration when Rinpoche is in Dzamling Gar (currently at least 7 months per year);

Ability to communicate well with the rest of the management team and the wider Community – clearly respectfully and concisely in both written and oral form in all circumstances;

Proficiency in English and willingness to learn Spanish (Spanish is an advantage);

IT skills (using a variety of software packages, such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, Power
Point, Excel, Access, etc., to produce correspondence and documents and maintain,
records, spreadsheets and databases. Website content management, social media and email communications);

Time management skills (and the ability to prioritize workloads);

Deal appropriately with confidential information;
